I’ll be brief for now.
Swelteringly hot. Zip all wind. Motoring through the Panama Canal. We comfortably transited Gatun Locks last night. We were the middle boat in the nest of 3 yachts…i.e. we had 2 large fenders either side. We went through with the container ship, Gloria. Today is our 12th wedding anniversary and Nichola’s last day on board Aretha until we reach San Francisco. Breakfast celebration with fresh coffee and pancakes.
We’ve just had a week in Shelter Bay in Panama getting things fixed (electronics and Nav still continue to challenge us). Our transit was delayed by 4 days.
So. New crew on board with the highly talented Frank who joined us 2 days ago.
When we get to the Pacific side this afternoon, Nichola and Willow get off and fly to San Francisco. Galen unfortunately had his US Visa denied so also gets off. All three will be very much missed. Our passage from St Lucia to Panama was a very happy and enjoyable one.
The crew of Columbus, Mindy, David, Frank and myself set off this evening. Destination either Costa Rica or Mexico depending on weather. We have a full strength multi talented crew and if the conversations so far are anything to go by, it will be a hot house of ideas!!
Our new adventure is about to begin. Exciting times.
Will write more when we settle down at sea.
